Born into a strict Sikh family in the town of Southall, Greater London, Amita rebelled against her family's wishes by absconding with her boyfriend, James Morrow, and becoming a goth. Amita works as the store manager at Canterbury's Second Hand Books in Marylebone, and is Ella Forsythe's boss. Amita is caring, attentive, and thoughtful, and in the two years she's worked alongside Ella, has formed as close a relationship with her as one can.
